After Im Sol.
Another side of the story.
A memorable role can make you want more of the same feeling. A useful Kim Hye-yoon watchlist also gives you a way to change the feeling entirely. Her work takes you from a fan’s time-travelling romance to a school inside a comic, a household shaped by academic ambition, and a young woman confronting the world in a feature film.
These four starting points are selected for their different premises and roles. Choose the kind of story you want tonight, rather than treating them as a ranking or a complete filmography.
Four titles, four starting points
| Title | Kim Hye-yoon’s role | Choose it for |
| Lovely Runner — drama | Im Sol | Time travel and fan-centred romance |
| Extraordinary You — drama | Eun Dan-oh | A school romance that questions its own rules |
| SKY Castle — drama | Kang Ye-seo | Family ambition and academic pressure |
| The Girl on a Bulldozer — film | Haeyoung | A confrontational, socially grounded film |
Lovely Runner: return to the emotional starting point
Kim plays Im Sol, whose bond with an idol becomes the centre of a time-travel romance. CJ ENM’s programme overview sets out the fantasy premise, while the official title listing identifies Kim with Sol. The basic question is what someone might do when given a chance to change a future they fear.
Start here if you want the romance to organise your viewing. If you have already finished it, use that preference as a guide: was it the speculative storytelling, the school setting, or Sol’s determination that kept you watching? Each answer points toward a different next title below.
Extraordinary You: keep the fantasy, change the rules
In Extraordinary You, Kim plays Eun Dan-oh. MBC’s official programme page describes young characters discovering that they inhabit a cartoon and trying to reshape the story assigned to them. The fantasy comes from the world’s construction, rather than a straightforward trip into the past.
This is the nearest choice on this list if you want another romance built around a heroine challenging what appears to be predetermined. Let the opening introduce the world before reading explanations of its mechanics. Following Dan-oh’s discoveries is part of the appeal, and a full plot summary can answer questions the drama wants you to carry into the next episode.
SKY Castle: follow ambition into an ensemble drama
Kang Ye-seo places Kim within the family and education pressures of SKY Castle. The licensed broadcaster BS Fuji’s character guide identifies her as a high-achieving student aiming for medical school. Its programme introduction centres the competition and expectations surrounding families in an affluent residential community.
Choose this when you want to move away from a romance-led fantasy. Ye-seo’s position in a larger household and neighbourhood makes relationships between parents, children and rivals important to the viewing experience. Track the families as the drama introduces them. You will get more from the ensemble by understanding who wants what than by looking for a one-to-one replacement for Sol.
The Girl on a Bulldozer: make the next step a film
The Busan International Film Festival archive names Kim’s character as Haeyoung. After her father has an accident, the young woman takes on responsibility and searches for answers. The festival’s description foregrounds her anger and her struggle with the people and systems around her.
This is the strongest change of pace among these four choices. Take it as a feature film with its own demands, rather than an extension of the romantic characters you may know. The useful comparison is how a protagonist pushes against the limits of her situation; the setting and tone are substantially different.
Choose the next feeling, then the next title
For another rule-changing romance, move from Lovely Runner to Extraordinary You. For a family ensemble, try SKY Castle. For a single-film commitment and a more confrontational premise, choose The Girl on a Bulldozer. These are editorial routes based on the official premises, rather than claims that every viewer will respond the same way.
For another actor-led route, browse our IU drama watchlist or Park Bo-gum guide by mood. Check the exact title in your local services; this selection does not promise current availability in any particular country.
On the record. Credits and premises checked 27 October 2026 against CJ ENM, MBC Global Media, BS Fuji, Apple’s title listing and the BIFF archive linked above. Official reference pages can reveal later plot details. This is independent editorial coverage.
