CELEBPEDIA / FOUR STORY WORLDS

Choose the genre.
Meet a different character.

A selective Kim Tae-ri watchlist, from a fencing dream to a spacecraft’s captain.

Searching for Kim Tae-ri movies and TV shows gives you an unusually useful choice: you can change not just the setting but the kind of attention a story asks for. A sporting ambition, a period romance, a supernatural investigation and a space adventure each offer a different entry point.

These four selections are independent works. The guide follows starting premises and credited roles, leaving major revelations for the screen. It also distinguishes a movie-sized commitment from a television series, so your first choice can fit the time you have.

Title Character Viewing route
Twenty-Five Twenty-One Na Hee-do Coming of age and fencing
Mr. Sunshine Go Ae-sin A period-drama ensemble
Revenant Gu San-yeong An occult mystery
Space Sweepers Captain Jang A science-fiction movie

Twenty-Five Twenty-One: start with a goal

Kim plays Na Hee-do, a young fencer trying to pursue her ambitions amid the upheaval of the late-1990s financial crisis. Netflix’s official introduction places her sporting dream alongside friendship, love and the changing circumstances of the people around her.

Choose it when you want a character’s determination to provide your way into a larger coming-of-age story. Sporting goals give you something concrete to follow, while the period setting supplies another layer of context.

Do not reduce the choice to a promise of a particular romantic ending. The useful first-watch question is what Hee-do wants and how the world around her makes that pursuit harder. Let the relationships develop without consulting a finale recap first.

Mr. Sunshine: make time for a larger canvas

In Mr. Sunshine, Kim plays Go Ae-sin, an aristocrat’s daughter, opposite Lee Byung-hun’s Eugene Choi, a Korean-born U.S. Marine officer returning to his homeland. Netflix’s production announcement confirms those roles and the 24-episode format.

Choose this for a longer period-drama commitment. The relationship sits within a story concerned with the country’s political future, so following the supporting characters and their positions matters. Give the opening episodes room to build that network instead of approaching the series as a collection of romantic scenes.

It is also a useful change after a youth-centred selection: the character’s social position and the historical setting create different pressures. Treat the programme as fiction set against history, with further historical reading as a separate activity.

Revenant: follow a mystery into the supernatural

Kim’s Gu San-yeong works part-time while preparing for civil-service examinations. After receiving an object left by her father, she becomes entangled with a malign spirit. SBS’s official pre-release character report introduces San-yeong and the investigation around her.

This is the route for an occult-mystery mood. Ordinary responsibilities and a supernatural threat share the starting point, offering a different kind of tension from a sports goal or a period romance. Check the local content guidance if horror is not usually part of your watchlist.

Our Revenant character guide can help with names. Keep plot-solving and ending articles for later if you want the uncertainty to remain part of the experience.

Space Sweepers: try one film before another series

Captain Jang leads a very different viewing route. Kim joins Song Joong-ki, Jin Sun-kyu and Yoo Hai-jin in a story about the crew of the spacecraft Victory, which salvages space debris. Netflix’s official film announcement identifies the crew and its science-fiction premise.

Pick Space Sweepers if you want to explore a movie rather than begin another run of episodes. The crew’s competing personalities and shared work give you an ensemble to follow within that format. Captain Jang is a separate performance, not an extension of the characters in the dramas above.

A clear starting choice

Which should I watch first?
Start with Twenty-Five Twenty-One for ambition and coming of age, Revenant for mystery, or Space Sweepers for a film. Choose Mr. Sunshine when you want a longer period ensemble.

Where are these available?
Check the exact title and subtitle options in licensed catalogues for your country. Production announcements confirm credits, not every current streaming territory.
