A Nami Island day trip works best when you plan the journey to the wharf, the island crossing and the journey back as separate steps. For an international K-drama fan, the aim can be simple: enjoy the setting, choose a few places to explore and return without rushing for a connection.
The Korea Tourism Organization identifies Nami Island as a filming location associated with Winter Sonata. That established connection can inspire a visit, but it does not mean a production is currently filming or that an actor appearance is included.
1. Navigate to the entry wharf
Nami Island belongs to Chuncheon, while the usual entry wharf is in Gapyeong. The operator's access page gives the wharf address as 1024 Bukhangangbyeon-ro, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do and the search name Nami Island Gapyeong Wharf. Save that destination rather than treating an island map pin as the end of your road journey.
Keep two saved locations: the place where you arrive by train or road, and the wharf where you board. Check the final connection between them. This is especially useful when a route search shows a convenient arrival at a station but leaves you to solve the last part yourself.
| Your arrangement | Keep these stages separate | Confirm before committing |
| Independent rail journey | Train, station-to-wharf connection, island crossing | Return service and enough transfer time |
| Reserved shuttle | Meeting point, road journey, stated visit window | Exact boarding location and return meeting time |
| Driving or a hired vehicle | Wharf arrival, parking or drop-off, crossing | Pickup arrangement and the driver's waiting terms |
2. Choose transport around your starting point
The official access guide lists both the Gyeongchun Line and ITX-Cheongchun services to Gapyeong Station. It also lists bus 10-4, a taxi or walking for the connection toward the island entrance. Compare a current route from your accommodation; the shortest train segment does not necessarily produce the easiest complete journey.
For rail, check which service you intend to use, its departure station and its ticket arrangements. Save the service details rather than relying on a station name alone. Add time for finding the right platform and reaching the wharf after arrival.
The operator also lists a Seoul round-trip shuttle. If that suits you, follow the booking link on the access page and read the selected product's conditions. A station name is not a sufficiently precise meeting point: save the exit, street or parking area, check-in instructions and return meeting place.
Make the return plan before buying several activities. If one traveller wants a relaxed walk and another wants a fixed activity, agree which booking controls the day. Keep your confirmation available offline and share the meeting details within your own group.

3. Read the ticket inclusions
The operator labels admission as a Naminara Republic visa. Its admission page distinguishes the standard round-trip ferry option from a motorboat-in, ferry-out option. Read the relevant column before comparing totals, and check the current category and conditions for everyone in your group.
Do not assume a different crossing, a reserved activity, a rental or a meal is included because the product uses the island's name. For any separate purchase, identify the date, arrival requirements, cancellation terms and what happens if you miss the booked time. Keep the original booking confirmation rather than a cropped screenshot that omits the conditions.
4. Plan backwards from the journey home
Read the operator's ferry schedule for both directions. It separates travel to the island from travel back and includes seasonal additions. Operating arrangements can change, so a departure time copied from an older itinerary should not determine your return plan.
Start with the service or vehicle you need after leaving the wharf. Then allow time for disembarking, the onward transfer and finding the correct boarding point. Choose an earlier personal departure target that leaves room for a queue or a slower walk.
If you have a reserved shuttle, use its stated meeting time as your limit. A later ferry may still run while your booked coach has already left. Agree when you will stop adding activities and begin heading back, even if there are places you have not seen.
5. Give the island walk a clear shape
Use the operator's download materials page to find the current English leaflet. Choose two or three priorities on the map, connect them into a manageable route and identify where you can take a break. Keep the way back to the wharf easy to recognise.
For a drama-inspired visit, separate a location you have verified from a place you simply find appealing for photographs. Our K-drama filming-location planning guide explains how to check a scene connection. Avoid describing every attractive tree-lined path as the setting of a particular episode.
Leave room to pause rather than measuring the day by the number of map pins collected. If taking photographs is a priority, choose a few stops, keep paths clear and let other visitors pass. Any organised or commercial activity needs its own permission checks.

6. Match the plan to your group
Check the forecast before leaving and choose clothing and footwear for an outdoor day. Seasonal photographs are inspiration rather than a promise of the conditions you will find. Keep a shorter walking plan ready for rain, cold or a group member who becomes tired.
The operator's accessibility information lists accessible toilets and wheelchair rental at the Tourism Bureau. Ask about your specific journey and needs before relying on a facility or rental. A listed service does not by itself confirm availability or suitability for every part of your route.

Questions to settle before booking
Does arriving at Gapyeong Station mean I have arrived on the island?
No. Check the station-to-wharf connection and the crossing as additional stages. Include them when comparing the complete outward and return journeys.
Should I combine several nearby attractions?
Only after checking their separate opening arrangements, travel connections and any reserved times. Keep optional stops flexible; a nearby map pin does not establish a workable same-day transfer.
Can I use one old ferry screenshot for the whole plan?
Reopen the current official schedule for your date and check the direction. Then make sure it still connects with the rest of your journey home.
Is this a guaranteed opportunity to see filming?
No. Plan a visitor day around the destination and its established drama connection. Treat any advertised event as a separate arrangement to verify.
